drank White Peony by DAVIDsTEA

I’ve never had a straight white tea before and I’m enjoying this one. Nothing too special about it from what I can tell. Perhaps once I’ve tried more unflavoured white teas I’ll have more to report.

Update: Great resteeped as well!

Kasumi no Chajin

my favorite white tea (a sliver needle) resteeps about 5 times (at least) very nicely

That’s great. I’m on my third re-steep now and I’m still really enjoying it. I’l’ have to update on many steeps I manage :)

drank Korean Sejak by DAVIDsTEA
1438 tasting notes

According to my spreadsheet, this marks my 75th tea from DavidsTea.

I love the earthy smell of this one, like most unflavoured teas. Almost like a mix between an oolong and genmaicha. It’s a bit stronger than an oolong, but of a similar taste, even though technically it’s a green tea. Though unfortunately it’s a bit too bitter for my liking, perhaps adjusting the steeping parameters would fix that.

drank Red Velvet Cake by DAVIDsTEA

Hello maple. I can smell you, even if I don’t see you in the ingredients.

Red Velvet Cake is reminding me of Birthday Cake, which was too much for me. However, I’m enjoying this one! The overwhelming sweet smell doesn’t do the tea justice. It’s a nice smooth, cup of tea. Yes sweet, but not sickeningly so.

drank Berry Good (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

This one looks similar to Bear Trap and smells very berry-like. Steeping it smells exactly like the Triple Berry flavour of Oatmeal Crisp cereal. I was expecting a deep red/pink colour with all the berries but it’s the colour of coffee. I’m tasting the strawberries and I’d say this is a good start to pu’erh teas.

drank Buddha's Blend by DAVIDsTEA

This smells faintly like peaches (not real peaches, though not a completely fake scent either). I’ve smelled that before in Three Wishes. I’m guessing that’s the jasmine? That’s the ingredient they have in common.

I did a 30 second steep since it’s a white tea and I’ve been getting great results with that. I’m enjoying it. Nice and light. Not overwhelming, but not underwhelming.

drank Bear Trap by DAVIDsTEA

This is an interesting blend. It’s very colourful dry and steeps a dark red/pink colour. The smell is nice, but there is something I’m not fond of — not sure what it is. The taste is much less overwhelming than the smell. I was expecting something akin to Mamma Mia with a strong smell. But it seems almost watered down. Not offensive, not awesome.

Overall a nice blend. I’l finish my 10 g sample, but won’t purchase again.

drank Ginseng Oolong by DAVIDsTEA
1438 tasting notes

Well this brews up quite a bit darker than my straight oolongs. Hmm. We will see, we will see.

Hmm. I don’t think I’m too fond of this one. Must be the ginseng. A very strange aftertaste in the back of my mouth/throat.

The scent is really not doing it for me dry or steeped — though it was ever so slightly better dry (not quite as intense). The cinnamon is coming out the longer it steeps.

This has a bizarre flavour, very medicinal.

Profile

Bio

I love black and oolong (unroasted/green and red preferable to roasted) teas, followed by green or red rooibos, herbals, whites, and subtly flavoured greens.

Likes:
Blackcurrant, raspberry, strawberry, peach, apricot, rhubarb, passionfruit, redcurrant, fig, and most fruits in general, maple, creaminess, hay, biscuit, lavender, and cacao/dark chocolate.

I enjoy bergamot when paired with flavours that mellow it.

Dislikes:
Any smokiness at all, stevia, too much blackberry leaf, rose, jasmine, ginger (except in chai), cinnamon-heavy teas, anything cloying or fake/candy-like.

I’m vegan and have a potato allergy, so I avoid animal products in tea, along with sprinkles as these often have potato starch (I’ll happily pick them out of blends).
