Peach Serenity

Finally our last hot day of summer is done! Hopefully that is. We’ll see. WE could always have another day that is 20 degrees warmer than the average.

This was another of Adagio’s $0.75 samples. It didn’t impress. Nothing wrong with it exactly, but it didn’t taste like much. So I’m glad I got to try it but it will not be a re-order.

Cold steeped.

I’m finding this one a bit bland. It has a pleasant enough peachy flavor to it, but tastes quite thin and watery prepared this way. Maybe it would be better steeped hot, or flash chilled. As-is, it’s not terrible, but mostly tastes like a bit of apple and a bit of peach mixed with a lot of water. I don’t really notice much chamomile or lemon verbena.

additional notes: Sipdown! I was saving the last of this for summer and also… well down the line after I first had it, to see if it was something I would want stocked. It really is. There is a lovely mellowing of unique flavors here, definitely a peach flavor I have never had before. Somehow the rosehips aren’t really there. It’s like peach and osmanthus and apricot and something floral and it’s lovely. On to my order-from-adagio list.

In the package, this smells exactly like peach rings. In flavor, it’s a bit murkier than that. Herbal peach teas often have a little bit of an unpleasant aftertaste that I can’t identify, and that comes in occasionally here. The peach is decently tasty, but there are better peach options. I think I prefer peach with chamomile to balance it out, so the second time I made this, I used 2 tsp peach to 1 tsp chamomile, and that was a real winner. I’m on my third pitcher of Celestial Seasonings’s country peach passion this week, and yet I’m still trying to adjust my other teas to make them taste more like country peach. I guess that’s a testament to how good that flavor is! I love trying new peach teas, but I always go back to my trusty country peach passion.

Was this one of the Teavana ‘dupes’ that Adagio pumped out right after Teavana closed? I can’t remember…

This was ok; same sort of sweet and more candied peach notes as the Peach Oolong. Definitely a little apple heavy in terms of flavour though (there’s A LOT of filler apple in this blend), and has a bit of a sour fruit undertone? Nothing particularly bad about it – but just reads as somewhat forgettable and generic to me. Maybe would be good iced.

Steeped 5 minutes (recommendation of 5-10 min). Smells great and peachy, but doesn’t taste good. Tastes sour/bitter/not good. Tried 10.2018

This has a gentleness to it, but still somehow rather juicy. It is kind of ambiguously fruity, but doesn’t have that dried, pruny flavor that fruit blends sometimes have – this is more the fresh, apple base with definite chamomile and peach tones. I am not a chamomile lover but it works fine in this tea. I tend to cold brew it and serve it well chilled, which brings out the refreshing notes. I probably won’t rebuy, but I still enjoyed the entire package. (I like Peach Bellini by them much more.)

I am not liking apricots in my tea at all. That is all I can taste in this blend and it tastes similar to peach bellini (which also has apricots in it). Not too impressed with their fruit blends so far.
