Adagio Advent Calendar Day 10 (I think) I kinda lost track of days this week, but I think this was day 10 of the advent calendar.

This one sounded SO good! I enjoy honeybush teas and I’ve had a couple of pancake breakfast teas -52 Teas had had some marvelous pancake breakfast teas that I really enjoyed AND some honeybush teas I liked a lot- and I expected to love this one. I didn’t hate it. And I did get a bit of sweetness of maple. But over all it was just okay. Mind you, since I am sick I may not enjoy much of anything right now. I really expected to love this one. I am disappointed. Maybe if my expectation wasn’t so high I would have enjoyed it more.

Adagio Advent Calendar Day 11 (I think)

This one was a little disappointing. The name made me think of David’s Forever Nuts. I’ve had that one several times, and although it is not a top 10 favorite, I do enjoy it. This one was … OK. Not great. At least the hibiscus was not overpowering. The whole cup, for me, was a bit blah. Not memorable.

So not a reorder.

drank Minty Comfort by Adagio Teas

Adagio Advent Calendar Day 12

I quite liked this one. It did not taste medicinal. But more than just a peppermint tea. I re-steeped it too and it was just as good on the second steep. This cup as timely as I had to go to the walk in clinic Thursday after work, and that stupid radiation pneumonitis is back. My oxygen is a bit low at 92 and I can’t stop coughing. Breathing is a little harder. Not that I can’t breathe. Of course I can breathe. But I wheeze and cough. My oncologist wanted to see me so he squeezed me in Friday afternoon. I thinks prednisone is the way to go, but it really messes with my blood glucose. So he added a different inhaler to my usual rescue inhaler and told me very firmly to call on Monday if I don’t see improvement. Hmm… Anyway, I did enjoy this one. I do have David’s Cold 911 which is also good.

This may be a re-order.

Adagio Advent Calendar Day 9

I am not sure what to say about this tea. I found it a bit underwhelming. On the plus side, the hibiscus did out sour me out. There was a slight zing of tartness that at first I thought might be from the cranberries, but then thought it might be from the hibiscus. I just didn’t get much flavor from it. I drank most of the cup. If a friend served this I could drink it but it would not be part of a future order.

Adagio Advent Calendar Day 8

Wow. I found this one extremely sour. Not too surprising since the first ingredient listed is hibiscus. I didn’t get any other flavor from it. I had an Adagio tea a few nights ago that was pretty tart but I was able to drink it. This one got tipped down the drain after 3 sips. Someone who enjoys the tart zing of hibiscus might really love this one.

I’m not really complaining, though, because one of the things about an advent calendar is that I get to try teas that I wouldn’t normally buy. Who knows, something that I wouldn’t buy could end up being a new favorite. And without an advent surprise I would miss it. So bring on the hibby and everything else!

I have been surprised on occasion to find that sweetening hibiscus-heavy teas can sometimes completely change the flavor, reducing the tartness and allowing other flavors to emerge. You might try that next time you encounter one that makes you pucker! :-)

I love cats. I love alone time. I love sitting indoors on a cold winter night with a book or my knitting while drinking tea. I don’t have a sense of smell, so many of the more subtle flavors of tea escape me. Two of the things I CAN taste are bitter and sour, so any tea that has even a slightly bitter taste is nasty for me. And what others might perceive as pleasant tartness may be horribly sour for me.

I’m also a writer. I love writing, and a mug of hot tea helps me get through the hours sitting in front of the computer. Although I’m a comparatively new tea drinker, I’m jumping in feet first. Feel free to recommend any teas you think I might enjoy.

100-91 – Wowza! I want to keep this tea in the cupboard all the time.
75-90 – Very nice. It would be good to have this tea on hand from time to time.
60-74 – OK. Wouldn’t keep it in the cupboard, but I would drink it again.
45-59 – If a friend served this I would drink it to be polite, but it’s not really my cuppa.
Lower than 45 – Blech. It was too sour or bitter for my taste. Would not drink it again.
