2129 Tasting Notes
Received a single tea bag thanks to postcrossing again and it is not a bad.
It is a strong, bold black tea with dominant malty notes, a little bitterness and astringency. Definitely strong in caffeine, as it woke me up in the early evening.
Definitely recommend for easy-drinking cup.
Preparation
A sipdown! (M: 1 Y: 81) — prompt: A single origin tea
A tea received from derk, thank you friend in tea!
Remaining 5 grams I put into strainer and did two steeps western; and I have received a nice, refreshing, green tea, however somehow without much oomph moments. But… it is 4 years old sencha, right? Harvest was in May 2021, shame on me!
Grassy, hay-like notes; however no bitterness.
Considering the age, I won’t change my rating; and I am actually surprised I have rated it last time, while it definitely wasn’t freshest tea back then.
Preparation
Decaf & Herbal TTB, tea #10
Well, maybe my preparation wasn’t good choice — I left the bag all time in.
And it was like a plain hibiscus to me. Slightly tart, very fruity, but no particular fruit to point out. Do I need to steep it shorter to detect any fruits?
Cretan Farmers Natural Products — Lemon Verbena shared with me by derk; lots of thanks!
I have been feeling unwell today. Lots of sweating, very strong headache and not even analgetics helped, upset stomach; what’s going on I have absolutely no idea. I left work in middle of my shift, as I felt so bad.
I have drank a hot tea in the afternoon; after a hour-long nap, and rather took a relaxing rest of the day.
In the evening, I had a mood for something calming and I have been looking for a lemon balm. But nada, there is no that herbal in my cupboard. Not even in blends, that hgihly surprised me. But I have found this tea I have received a long time ago from derk and decided to drink it. As I don’t mind drinking verbena itself, I thought that lemon kind of it wouldn’t hurt and I steeped 2 grams of those in a sick mug. It is a mug that we use when we’re feeling bad; have small ceramic strainer and rather a big volume and thick walls, so it doesn’t cool down quickly.
I have to say, that this tea helped me although I am not really sure if it is the herb, hot drink or more things combined. The taste is, naturally, herbaceous, maybe even a little bitter, but with pleasnt lemony twist which isn’t too strong, but it’s there.
The headache is much weaker and its mouth- and throatcoating qualites make me feel much better, and it has calmed my stomach as well.
I hope you continue to mend quickly! I love the concept of a sick mug – a special mug to hold lots of tea to warm you and help you feel better.
A sipdown! (M: 1 Y: 80) prompt: A tea that was gifted to you
Perfect pairing with walnut flavoured ice cream.
This tea was gifted me derk; so thank you!
It seems that in our family I am only one who enjoys houjichas; which suprises me. But this one was just delicious, and it was perfect for today cold day (approx. 15°C only!). This summer seems to be colder than last years, but I am not complaining at all. On the other hand, southern Europe is too hot even for them.
This houjicha has a perfect ratio of roasted taste and sweet notes, making it very nutty with rich flavours. There are no rough notes, nor any bitter ones. I will miss this one for sure.

I took a bag of this just because of the wrapper and yep, that wasn’t a tea for me. Very sweet, with long-lasting effect; oils of spices instead of solid spices and overall it was a little too much and muddled flavours all together.
As I couldn’t notice anything but sticky sweetness and mish-mash of spices, I am not really a fan. Maybe a combination with some robust black tea would make it much better and tastier.
Preparation
Decaf & Herbal TTB, tea #8
This tea is not without caffeine, but with low amount of it; at least based on the label.
Two teaspoons; lots of stems, little leaves, steeped shortly.
A cup full of aroma, rather reminding me a hot cocoa than anything else; so smooth to drink, with cocoa notes in flavour too. Absolutely no astringency in this one.

Decaf & Herbal TTB, tea #7
Another loose leaf and honestly I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this one.
But in fact, it wasn’t too bad.
Hard to desribe though. It was herbaceous; with hints of autumn leaves, a little citrusy. I am not sure if I noticed papaya at all; and vanilla? Not at all… rather a creamy and smooth note.
It’s interesting, but nothing I have to re-try.

I was really looking forward to try a few Celestial Seasonings teas as I can’t get them here at all. I kept the bag in the mug all the time and well, I have to say, it seems like a well executed gingerbread tea to me. It is very molasses like, mouthcovering and in the back of the sip there are spices, in no particular order: ginger, cloves, cinnamon, maybe hints of cardamom, nutmeg. When the level of the spices goes down, there is a nutty flavour that comes up and again, it fills whole mouth. Highly enjoyable, at least to me. When it cooled down, the end of the sip was very honey-ish; and that’s positive for me in gingerbread tea.
Preparation
Although it seems this tea could be from the TTB, it is not!
I received this one thanks to postcrossing and prepared today afternoon; despite very tired and I was that tired I rather went from the office earlier than being there useless.
It was quite fine. The rooibos was a little woody as expected; maybe a little nutty. The vanilla is the star of the show though, as it was very genuine, custard-like, creamy treat.
