Almond Sugar Cookie

I love this one! Definitely one of my favorites from S&V. I noticed my tin was very low after sending some off in a swap package, so I decided to leave it out on the counter and finish it off.

So, so yummy. One of the few teas that actually does taste like cookies or pastry to me, despite many others claiming to. And it has a lovely rich almond flavor that doesn’t taste like marzipan or almond extract, which I also find quite rare. There’s a light creaminess to it as well, and because of that it brings to mind some sort of fluffy choux bun delight, filled with whipped cream and topped generously with toasted sliced almonds. Not quite a cream puff or éclair, as it lacks the eggy richness of the crème pâtissière, but it does have that light buttery flavor that reminds me of puff pastry or choux.

So much nom. Will definitely reorder this one once I’ve pared things down a bit. (She says, optimistically…)

This tea wasn’t even on my radar…but it should have been. It tastes just like one of those crunchy almond cookies some Chinese restaurants serve. YUM! My only complaint is the base tea is kind of flat and boring. Which is really the problem with most flavored teas, no matter how good the flavoring! sigh

This was the tea that got motivated me the most to order from Simpson & Vail.
Anything with the word “cookie” in it has my attention.
The smell of this tea first made me skeptical because it didn’t smell very “cookie-y” when I opened the bag. But as it steeped it began to smell more like a sugar cookie.
The taste was pretty buttery, which is usually a big aspect of a sugar cookie. Sometimes buttery tastes in teas don’t sit well with me, but in dessert teas it’s heavenly! You can definitely taste the almond too which is an excellent combo to the butter. It definitely lives up to it’s name but I don’t think any sugar cookie tea can ever beat, Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride. :P
I would have fully enjoyed this cup of tea if I hadn’t gotten randomly sick again, but I definitely will when I drink it in the future! It’s worth trying if you ever order from Simpson & Vail! (:

This is the second dessert tea I’ve tried from Simpson and Vail and the results were very similar. It’s a good tea But… be careful not to use too much tea as it’s potent, be careful not to oversteep, be careful not to oversweeten, and the second steep is much better than the first. Those few notes aside it is a very good dessert tea that tastes quite alot like it’s namesake. I don’t know what sort of base S&V use but it’s very temperamental, so if your first cup isn’t very good try for another with a little different preparation.

Sweet, bakery-ish – not getting any almond (or nut). I’ve had a better “cookie” tea recently. This pales in comparison.

Since this arrived in my package from MissB I have been dreaming about it. The big success of almond in with the leaves and the thought of drinking almond sugar cookies….mmmmmm…… so I made this as my late morning brew. It is quite tasty, very almondy. It’s not quite as cookie as I would have liked, but it’s in the background. Maybe a touch of milk would bring that out more.
